Your IRCC Account

Everything to do with your Visitor Visa Application is done on the IRCC Website. In order to use the site, you must have an account, so that is the first step.

Before we proceed, you should be aware that IRCC frequently makes changes to its website. At ViajeaCanada we constantly monitor the site and will update this course, and try to advise you of such changes. If for some reason you are not notified, and notice that the website is slightly different than what you may see in our illustrations, do not be concerned. The flow will remain the same, and you may contact us at any time should you have any questions.

Having said that, let’s move forward so you can learn how to establish and use your IRCC account.

The account set up begins with the home page of the IRCC website, which we saw in the last lesson. Simply click on “Your IRCC Application.

Even though you will not have an IRCC Application when you begin, click on that selection. It will take you to this page:

From there, simply scroll down until you see the following portion of the page. 

Click on “Sign in to your IRCC account”. Again, it does not matter that you do not yet have an account.

When you click on “Sign in to your IRCC account, you will find yourself on the following page. Be careful because this page can be confusing.

Even though you do not yet have an existing account, DO NOT click on “You don’t have an account”

Trust us on this. Even though you do not have an account, click on “Sign in to your existing account”. 

When you do that, the page will expand and you will be able to select “Visitor Visa” as shown below in Fig 5

Once you select Visitor Visa, you will be presented with an expansion of the same screen that will look like this.

Select “IRCC Portal”. The “new version” is still in development, so IRCC Portal is the better option.

In the steps that follow, you will set up your IRCC Account.   The process will involve a few steps that may not make any sense, but these are designed to keep your account secure.

When you click on IRCC Portal you will find yourself on the page shown in Figure 7 below.

The invite code is a security step, and will not take long. Click on “Get Invite Code” and you will be taken to a very short form, Fig. 8 below.

All you need to do here is to enter your email and confirm it, then click “Get Invitation Code”. What is important here is that you enter your correct email address, because from this step on, everything is filed and controlled by the email address that you enter here.

Once you click “get Invitation Code” the IRCC system will, after a few seconds, present you with your code as shown in Fig. 9.

Be sure to copy this code. You will need it for the next step. Once you have copied  it, click on “Continue to the IRCC Portal Sign-up Page”.

The sign-up page which appears below as Fig. 10 is very simple.

As you can see, the very first field requests the invite code you received in the previous step.

Simply fill in all the fields. Make sure the email address you enter here is the same as what you entered previously.

Once you have entered the data and submitted the sign up form, there will be one final verification step. You will receive a code by email and will be taken to this page:

This is just a final security step. You will receive a security code at the email address that you entered.

Enter the verification code and click on “Confirm”.

You will be taken to the sign in page for the IRCC Portal

From here, sign in with your username and password to start your application!
